According to the WHO every year over 200,000 deaths are caused by meningitis worldwide, and one million new cases are diagnosed.
Bacterial meningitis can be extremely dangerous, resulting in death in less than 24 hours. There is a need for novel, rapid high-performance diagnostic tests that are affordable, deliver accurate and quick results and allow bacterial meningitis to be diagnosed based on use, impact, target population and level of training, and can ideally measure antibiotic sensitivity.
Bacterial CNS Flow Chip was developed to meet this need, allowing the simultaneous detection of nine meningitis-causing bacteria.
